Dextre The Space Robot Starts Repairs In Space. Dextre, at a ton and a half is no small space robot. Dextre intended for repair and servicing tasks at the International Space Station (ISS), is now fully functinal, according to reports. The 12-foot-tall robot repair and maintenance robot, is the product of an Canadian space robotics tech company, has been fully assembled and is ready for work.

Dextre will move about the outside of the station on the end of an large articulated "Canadarm2" gantry, also a Canadian product. If necessary the robot can "ride independently" on its mobile base system.
