Instantly Turn Your PC To A Mac

Ever wanted to convert a PC to a Mac? With the Efix USB adapter you can. This USB dongle by EFiX, that once you instal it on the motherboard of your PC will allow you to install the Mac Leopard OS X on your PC from a standard retail DVD.

This the Efix USB comes in two versions:
  1. Version 1 is the hand-made version that supports a few more mobos. Since it’s hand-made, there are 200 units of this version have been produced and they carry price tag of $125.
  2. Version 2 will be a mass-produced version, which is expected to be shipped a month later, and should cost cheaper than the version 1

The EFiX USB dongle is to be installed internally, which you need a vacant USB header on your motherboard. The device now has a limited number of hardware compatibility. Hardware such as nVidia is almost all supported, but for mobos, you can only find the Gigabyte in the list. The more detailed of the hardware compatibility list is here.

So far, the maker, EFiX has made deal with distributors in Taiwan and Bulgaria only, so it will only be available in those two countries for now. I wonder how Apple feels about this?

Halo 3 Play It On The iPhone (Satire)

Now you too can play Halo 3 on your iPhone.

We just got in the latest hack report that an 18 year old high school student has broken Halo 3 encryption code and ported the entire game to the iPhone.

Hans Nuttzipper is responsible for a number of hacks on the Xbox . "CNet declared the Halo/iPhone hack "A stunning achievement that will inspire millions."

Nuttzipper announced the iPhone/Halo crack on his blog and provided all the instructions and needed code. This young German took on the challenge after a classmate stated it would be impossible.

Nuttzipper attacked the iPhone and Xbox with vengeance and after a marathon coding session got Halo 3 to run on his 8gig iPhone.

I would say that Nuttzipper is an amazing computer cracker; Maybe Steve Jobs should give him a job.

Update:
Steve Jobs stated in a press release "Nuttzipper is a giant among his peers, this single feat will nearly guarantee Apple sells another million iPhones next year.""We are excited about creating a vibrant third-party developer community around the iPhone and enabling hundreds of new applications for our users," Jobs said in the posting.

Trojan Attacks Google Adsense, Publishers & Surfers

Trojan Attacks Google Adsense:
It looks like the virus and malware people are doing it again and are getting nastier with their security attacks. This time it has an effect on many levels. It takes away impressions from Goggle advertisements and can inflict surfers with some very nasty malware.

I noticed this one day while on my site and all my ads were geared to Anti-Virus software, We all know thats not what Random Thoughts is about so I quickly filtered out the ads only to have no advertising show. With Google Adsense ad matching technology I knew this could not be possible so i decided to look into the matter more carefully and this is what I found.

A Trojan is using the hosts file, redirecting Googles ads placed on publishers sites to those from a bad source. BitDefender has Identified the Trojan malware that replaces the text of Google Adsense text ads on publisher sites, Depriving the Publisher and Google from revenue while possibly leading the surfer to Malware Hell.

Google seems powerless to stop the trick since it involves the modification of the internal PC file called the Hosts File on the surfers computer. The host file is used to match the domain names you type in or get to by clicking a link to the Ip address of where the site is located.

In essence the Trojan misdirects your browser to go someplace other than where Google intended. Bit Defender named the malware Trojan.Qhost.Wu Bitdefender later went on the say the Trojan is of medium risk since its not spreading fast. The company did not say how the Trojan is being spread, I can tell you I got it after downloading a free Defrag utility for my computer.

While there is not much you can do about this Trojan and it is being spread from honest looking freeware sites. I would recommend you do a on-line scan of your system at Bitdefender
