How To Boost Your WIFI Reception For Under 25 Cents

I have been trying to boost my WIFI reception for some time now. My wireless router is actually in the garage of my home where my office is. I like to use my desktop in my bedroom and have poor WIFI reception up there.

Not wishing to pay $50 to $100 for some gadget in the store. I found a pattern for a Parabolic Reflector that I stuck to the antenna on the desktop. Not only did I find it boosted my WIFI signal reception, I came to find 10 more WIFI connections in the neighborhood that I previously did not know existed.

In order to create the WIFI booster you will need tinfoil, stiff stock paper for your printer, a scissors, pattern and some paste. it takes about 10 minutes to make the WIFI booster.

The WIFI booster pattern is right below. Once you have printed the pattern cut out all the parts. Take the parts put ample paste on them and then cover with tinfoil shiny side facing out. Put it all together slip the center part over your antenna and your off to better WIFI reception.

Enjoy let me know how it works out for you

Shape-shifting robots Becoming Reality

Robots that use electromagnetic forces to cling together and become different shapes are being developed by US researchers.

The goal is to create swarms of microscopic robots capable of morphing into virtually any form by clinging together, such as in this video.

Seth Goldstein, who leads the project at Carnegie Mellon University, admits this is still a distant prospect.

However, his team is using simulations to develop control strategies for futuristic shape-shifting, or "claytronic", robots, which they are testing on small groups of more primitive, pocket-sized machines.

These prototype robots use electromagnetic forces to maneuver themselves, communicate, and even share power.

This is a pretty interesting new emerging technology with many future uses. I'm sure that the newest high tech devices in the future will use a lot of this. Turn your car into a outdoor picnic table and kitchen, change it into a small cabana for the beach how about turning it into a small room to spend the night while on the road. Pretty cool stuff for your newest high tech dreams if your into micro robotics.

Pull Over Or Get Fried By Microwaves

Microwave Beams Stop Cars Dead.

The idea of an invisible energy beam that shoots from a police car, hits a vehicle of fleeing criminals and stops it is now a reality.

Eureka Aerospace managed to find a way to use microwave energy and direct it to a moving target, disrupt the electronic impulses of the cars electronic control unit (ECU) and in some cases even frying the circuits. Stopping a car dead, putting a end those long famous highway chases California is known for.

The electronics in the vehicle are not disrupted by heat, as with the typical home microwave for cooking. The magnified beam of 300 MHz, with so-called "vulnerable" frequencies that disrupt ignition and other functions. The beam is focused enough to pass any collateral damage to vehicles or any type of electronics, without harming people.

I can think of a lot of uses for this technology that would help stop a lot of crime.

Handheld Flying Stick Camera

This Handheld Flying Stick Camera looks like it will be hours of fun for adults and kids.

Don't be fooled by the looks of this gadget, it packs some serious technology such as face recognition to make sure your subjects are always in focus.

The camera will snap off pictures at a predetermined rate that you set. The way it flies is so simple, you rub the stick camera back and forth in your hands. The camera stores up the kinetic energy you let it go and up the camera flies. When the energy dissipates the Flying Stick Camera auto rotates back down to earth.

I am certain a lot of people will come up with some very imaginative ideas for this little gadget.

Sorry We Did Not Mean To Blow Your House Up!

A homeowner in Russia got a fun surprise, when the Russian military accidentally fired a missile into his house.

Russia's military offered payment to him on Thursday, after the missile went off course during a training exercise. The fact that is was described as a 'small rocket' is a relief to the man.

The Russian chatrooms were sizzling late Wednesday night after local agencies reported that 'an UFO dropped two bombs near Moscow.'

A defense ministry official told Reuters two rockets had gone astray during a military exercise near Moscow on Wednesday afternoon. One hit the roof of an house 2.2 miles away.

'The damage is estimated at 60,000 rubles (2,400 USD). It will be compensated for in two days,' said Yevgeny Konashenkov, spokesman for Russian ground troops.

'The owner of the house treats the incident with understanding. Of course he has no legal claims.'

Luckily for the nearby village of cottage houses, the rockets had disconnected at launch from the load of explosives which they normally carry to clear minefields. Which will come as a comfort to all the home owners, we're sure.

Sony Ericsson K-Series Phone - Leaked photos

These pictures are unconfirmed leaked photos of the new Sony Ericsson K Series Phone. There is no confirmed model name as of yet. The K series is a cybershot 5 megapixel with a LED Flash and supposedly will have a 16 million color display with QVGA resolution.

I don't see a joy stick on this phone, so it might be possible that they will leave it off due to the high complaints the joystick of past Sony Ericsson phones malfunctioning.

I think this Sony Ericsson K Series Phone is aesthetically pleasing from both sides and shows true function.

Bug Labs - Bugs Set Loose On the Net

Bug Labs sets the Bug loose on the internet with the announcement of the opening of its online store.

For those of you who have not been following the story, The Bug is a new tech erector set for the adult gadget lover. Get tired of the gadget you created just tear down the bug and build another gadget you can use. You can see The Bug demo video here.

I would like to mention that The Bug made quite an infestation sensation at CES when Bug Labs won the CNET Best of CES award for emerging technologies.

From what I hear, this might not be the best time to Purchase The Bug if you have no programming skills. The environment is ripe for the pickings however, if you have great skills and want to create code for the bug that others can use. "think Linux in the beginning" At the moment Bug labs is pretty much focused on building a developer community. Bug Labs intends to have huge library of cool applications for the Bug that will be instantly available for the novice.

If you're a programmer know Linux and Java, head over to The Bug Store and pick up the SDK & check out the modules. I am sure you will be quite impressed with the package.

Waverunner Sized Submarines U-Boat Worx - Invade The Ocean

U-Boat Worx creates some pretty cool submarines for the general public.

The U-Boat Worx submarines come in 2 models a one or two seater. You wont get wet, since Both submersibles are fully enclosed.

Some of the features I thought were pretty interesting are Air Conditioning, Ultra Light-Weight, You wont need a support boat or heavy cranes to launch it.

The U-Boat Worx submersible is meant to be launched anyplace, tow it to the lake , ocean, or that dark old flooded rock query.

This submersible has about 150 minutes of air time and goes to a depth of about 50 meters.

Lets talk about safety, The technology the U-Boat Worx designers have created a pressurized cabin to protect you from the extreme pressures at greater depths and The reliable pressure hull is extensively tested so you can be sure you are safe. Additionally, redundant depth control systems are integrated so as to make sure you can not exceed the maximum depth.

In case the submersible exceeds the maximum depth, air will automatically be blown into the Ballast Tanks and bring the submersible back to the surface. The Sub also equipped with an advanced life support system that guarantee the air you breathe is always fresh. Finally, a thorough training program will ensure that a pilot can cope with any situation.

I don't believe the U-Boat Worx underwater craft is available in the USA as of yet. I think this is a pretty cool gadget that fills a void. I live down here in South Florida this would be a great way to spend a weekend.

Halo 3 Play It On The iPhone (Satire)

Now you too can play Halo 3 on your iPhone.

We just got in the latest hack report that an 18 year old high school student has broken Halo 3 encryption code and ported the entire game to the iPhone.

Hans Nuttzipper is responsible for a number of hacks on the Xbox . "CNet declared the Halo/iPhone hack "A stunning achievement that will inspire millions."

Nuttzipper announced the iPhone/Halo crack on his blog and provided all the instructions and needed code. This young German took on the challenge after a classmate stated it would be impossible.

Nuttzipper attacked the iPhone and Xbox with vengeance and after a marathon coding session got Halo 3 to run on his 8gig iPhone.

I would say that Nuttzipper is an amazing computer cracker; Maybe Steve Jobs should give him a job.

Update:
Steve Jobs stated in a press release "Nuttzipper is a giant among his peers, this single feat will nearly guarantee Apple sells another million iPhones next year.""We are excited about creating a vibrant third-party developer community around the iPhone and enabling hundreds of new applications for our users," Jobs said in the posting.

OWA 2 Din 6.5 Inch Car DVD Player

I came across the OWA 2 Din 6.5-Inch Car DVD player today while surfing the net. I thought it was worthy to post here. The OWA 2 Din 6.5-Inch Car DVD player has a 6.5 inch wide touchscreen, three video output/Input, two audio output/input, and support for DVD, TV, CDC control, rear-view mirror function and AM/FM amplifier. You can get one for your car for a little over 300 USD Sounds pretty reasonable to me.

How To Boost Your Cell Phone Signal

Conice 6x18 Zoom Attachment Turns iPhone Into Super Shooter

The way the zoom lens attaches to your iPhone is with a clear plastic sleeve. Snap it on snap it off, the whole contraption runs about 15 bucks and you can get it from Dealextreme.

iPhone Like The Features - Dont Want AT&T, Work Around

As we know the iPhone is just filled with all sorts of great goodies. I don't like the idea of being forced to sign a 2 year contract to get a cool phone with all the handy applications I could use everyday.

This work around is not illegal and does not violate Apple or AT&T in anyway. Looking at the picture on the right, you would think that's a picture of Apples iPhone. It's not the iPhone it's the iPod Touch newest version of this gadget.

This new version of the iPod touch includes all the great applications and more of the iPhone. The only feature I can't do on the Touch that I love on the iPhone is text messaging, and that's because the Touch doesn't include a phone.

Let's take a deeper look here into the iPod Touch, The Touch like the iPhone can connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi. Apple added every function that the iPhone has to the iPod Touch except the ability to connect to a Cellular network.

Four of the Touch's five new applications are Mail, Maps, Stocks and those applications only work when connected to the Internet. Also, improvements were made to existing Touch programs to take better advantage of Wi-Fi. For example, with Photos, I can E-mail a picture of my family to my friends in Australia from the Touch as on the iPhone.

One of the coolest features is Maps that now integrates with your contacts. The way this little feature works. You pull up a contact and tap on maps and it will give you step by step directions to travel there. Since the Touch is not GPS a rather interesting technology Called Wi-Fi positioning is used to find your location and then chart out the map.

Who needs to buy a contract anymore from AT&T, when you can now do it all from the iPod Touch.

Cyber Contacts - Terminator Type Visual Display

Cyber Contacts - Super Human Vision on the way, imagine being able to instantly create cross-hairs, have pertinent data show in your line of sight or be able to zoom in on someone miles away with your eyes so closely that you can read their lips.

Engineers at the University of Washington have used for the first time a manufacturing process at the microscopic level to combine a biologically safe flexible contact lens with an imprinted electronic circuit and lit display with a lot of little lights, new tech extreme!

When you look though the completed lens, you see what the display is generating and the world around you right though the superimposed display. while the development of this contact is a very small step toward a finished product. I feel it's a very big step for nano technology, since the way it's made is incredible using self assembling nano technology in a contact that's safe for the eye.

The only problem I see here is getting it to communicate with something... I'm sure a mini-cord hanging out of each eye would be unacceptable, possibly though some type of Bluetooth technology?

Guaranteed Buyback Program - Instant Cash For Used Gadgets

Guaranteed Gadget Buyback Program, Instant Cash For your used gadgets.

A start up company in Los Angeles has started a gadget buyback that gives you the option to purchase a "guaranteed buyback contract" on any type of consumer electronic gadget, while its new tech from the store.

The company states this will help in the effort to recycle old technology while putting some cash back into your pocket. This sounds great but, it might not be to your advantage.

We took a look at this new gadget buyback program which was started by a corp called TechForward. The way the program works is simple, you buy an electronic gadget from the store, let's say an Zune, and the store gives you the option to purchase a guaranteed buyback for the Zune with a guaranteed amount of money paid to you when you're done with it.

Lets say 2 years down the road, you want to upgrade to a new Zune. TechForward will send you a box and free shipping postage so that you can ship out you're old Zune, and you then receive a check in your mail from TechForward for the amount that was predetermined when you originally bought the Zune. Sounds like a green friendly way to dispose of old consumer electronic devices. Let's take a look at the numbers, they just don't add up.

For you to get 100 percent of what you were guaranteed, your gadget must be in good condition. If its in poor condition expect a 25 percent penalty. If it's not working at all don't expect to see anything back. The contract only lasts 24 months as well and you can also renew for another 24 months with a lesser value on your gadget I say fooorgeetabout it, you can't win in this game and what do they judge the quality of your gadget on?

Microsoft To Discontinue XP - Tell Them Not To

Microsoft To Discontinue Windows XP.

Microsoft has stated they will discontinue all support and updates of windows XP as of June, 30th 2008 basically, forcing you to upgrade to Windows Vista.

Apparently there is such a huge stir because of this in the business, home and development sectors an online petition has been set up. With so many petitioning Microsoft to keep supporting the XP OS from around the world.

After going though a lot of the comments on the petition site, I found that many businesses were complaining that they had custom applications written specifically to work with Windows XP. The upgrade would cost them a fortune, not only for the OS but in upgrades to their custom programs. While many home users are happy with the Windows XP OS and don't want to be forced to upgrade. Lets not forget to mention the technology and software involved in the handheld gadget market that cant be upgraded easily.

WinXP has become such a mainstay the reaction to Windows XP's impending termination to what happened in the 1980s when Coca-Cola replaced its classic Coke soda recipe with New Coke, causing substantial protests and forcing the corporation to bring support for the now-rechristened Coke Classic. "XP has come to the point of being Coke Classic." Keep WinXP from becoming extinct.

Apple MacBook Air Plagued With Fatal Flaws

Apple MacBook Air Sleek, Thin, and cool laptop seems to have some major design flaws that also affected the iPhone and still affects the iPod.

MacBook Air is completely sealed. You can't open it to replace a failing battery, Ram or hard drive. The Apple employees stated that there will be a ton of devices and services to make up for the gap in the MacBook Air

To me, no amount of services or devices could help me if my MacBook Air battery has to be replaced while on the road. I mean really, what do you do if your on an important business trip and you're battery can't hold a charge and needs to be replaced? Ship it to Apple of course.

Something seriously to consider if you plan of using the MacBook Air for business, Since this bit of technology can't be fixed easily. Apple needs to come up with a better solution.

Saverclip Cool New Way of Measuring Energy Usage

SaverClip is a unique gadget that will stop the wonder of what's eating so much electricity anyplace you clip it.

The SaverClip is an interesting piece of technology in the way it works. You simply attach SaverClip to any cord powering anything in your home.

The SaverClip will then take a reading from the electromagnetic fields emanating from the cord to give you a reading on the power consumption.

One example you might actually think your refrigerator motor kicked off since the interior was cold enough, only to find it's sucking almost the same amount of juice while the motor was running.

All the intelligence is shown to you via a LCD screen built right into the SaverClip. This way you can get a clear idea of the energy vampires inhabiting your home.

SaverClip is just a concept at the moment; I for one would welcome this product into my home.

3M Ultra Mini Video Projector - Size Of Your Thumb

3M Creates Ultra-Mini Mobile Video Projector.

It looks as though the R&D staff at 3M have been putting in lots of over time with this gadget. This little mini projector is designed to go into any type of handheld device.

The reasoning for developing a mini-projector was that so many of us now have access to online media. Our screens are just a little too small to share with a group.

3M came up with a concept, a tiny projector that will allow you to project a 40 inch or larger image on to any surface. You will get a no speckle and a very high fill factor image giving you superior picture.

The 3M ultra-mini projector is available at the moment and is less than a half an inch thick.

A whole Home At The Push of a Button

Next time you see someone in the middle of no place standing next to a large shipping container, which just might be their home.

How you ask, with the push of a button that whole container just might unfold into a fully furnished home. Unfolding a fully furnished living room, bedroom, library, and a kitchen!

It's definitely not the Four Seasons, but it's definitely the answer for families affected by major disasters. The home was created by Illy and is made from 100% recycled materials and the entire home is controlled by a central computing system hidden in the kitchen.

The only question I have is, what do you do if it's really cold outside?

Gamer Builds Nuclear Reactor In Home - FBI Storms House

An out of work computer whiz who's family asked not to have his name mentioned, were shocked when the FBI and Nuclear Regulatory Commission showed up at the front door.

The Man started studying physics since the eighth grade. He explained that he is a science buff who has been fascinated by nuclear reactions and radiation all his life.

He as always been curious how things work and always created experiments down in this basement. People do it in universities all the time," he said. "It's just not usual that somebody does it outside of a university.

This time he decided to create a small scale nuclear reactor after he appropriated a small amount of uranium. The man then planned on creating a small nuclear reaction down in the room he plays his video games in.

Someone reading his blog contacted the federal authorities after he blogged that he had possession of a small amount of uranium and told bloggers the background radiation in his home doubled.

When the FBI and Nuclear Regulatory Commission were done with their check, they determined that everything was within reason. The FBI removed the experiment at his parents imploration.

Federal investigators said they found slightly elevated levels of radiation in the house but nothing considered dangerous. They consider the case Closed, no charges will be filed against the man.

Check On Your Cars Status A Mile Away With Your Smart Phone

Your iPhone, Blackberry or any Smartphone in the near future can be used just like one of those high Tech gadgets from the James Bond films.

Delphi has worked on the concept of smart key flobs. With this technology you're Blackberry, iPhone or any type of Smartphone can be used to monitor your automobile.

Your smart Phone is used to link into your Key Flob with Bluetooth Technology, from there your Key Flob communicates with your car from up to a mile away.

The functions of this new technology are extremely powerful and can locate your car up to a mile away. If you’re concerned someone might have broken into the car you can tell if they are laying down in the back seat waiting for you before you get to the car.

If it’s cold or hot outside, you can turn on the engine, crank up the air conditioning or heat, see the temperature rise or fall inside the car right from your smart phone, you can even just roll down the windows if you like.

Delphi showed the program can monitor tire pressure, see if you have enough gas in the tank for the drive downtown, and even tell you the condition of your brake fluid and oil. Families, Outside Sales Reps, single woman and James Bond aficionados will love the remote features. Right now this is a working concept that we should see released in the near future

Technology is finally catching up to those old James Bond flicks after all.

Excuse Me But Can I have My Bridge Back?

I know we have been going pretty hard at all the new Tech and gadgets being shown at CES. I think it's time for some humor and a giggle.

Some Steel crooks in Russia managed to take a 200 ton bridge without anyone noticing. The whole 38 ft bridge was taken from an area called Khabarovskin the eastern part of the country. The bridge was actually taken over night where it was part of the only road that leads to a heating plant.

The plant managers stated that they will replace it with a cement bridge.

This is an amazing story, I could not imagine how you could get all that metal out over night with no one hearing or seeing. It makes me wonder if it's presently on its way to Brooklyn

This amazing display shows true 3D picture, even at an angle there is no blur effect at all. The autostereostopic display allows a roomful of people to all get the same experience, from the same 3D television.

How does this technology work you ask? The Phillips WOW Vx comes with an arsenal of hardware Included. You get the display, Media streaming server that efficiently processes all the information, the display and mounting setup. The server is the key element since it analyzes the picture before putting it up on the screen and decides what's going to pop out foremost first. The 3D system operates seamlessly to produce dazzling effects.

At the moment, this system will only be sold B2B and will not hit the consumer market for a few years. Is this the beginning of a next step in television technology for the future? Will we now toss our prized flat panel HDTV's in a few years to get a 3D TV?

How To Unclog A Toilet Without A Plunger or Gadget

How To Unclog your Toilet Without a Plunger or that latest little gadget. I know its not a thought we all like to reflect on.

Over the Holidays I had a stopped up toilet and loaned my plunger to a neighbor who now happened to be on vacation. Since the stores were closed I faced a uncomfortable situation.

I did some out of the box thinking and this how I solved my problem.

Take about a ounce of liquid dish soap and pour it in the bowl. Let it sit for about thirty minutes while a boiling a large pot of water. When the water comes to a slight boil pour it in the bowl. You should see some movement, "no pun Intended" then the water should go down if the clog starts to move slowly but not clear just repeat the steps.

Obviously, this will not work for hard objects like a ball, Ipod, Iphone or your Zune.
